Full-Time SURGICAL AIDE IN CALGARY

Job Summary:
Performs technical duties under general supervision relating to the decontamination, reassembly, function testing, sterilization, storage and distribution of reprocessed hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation.Alberta Health Services requires all employees working in medical device reprocessing to have successfully completed their Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) Exam – no later than March 31, 2015.

Mandatory certification will be a condition of employment for all employees performing MDR duties in the designated areas as of April 1, 2015.

Qualifications:
– Grade 12 or equivalent.  Completion of a certificate program in Sterile Processing (includes a minimum of 350 hours of practicum experience in a sterile processing department) from a recognized post secondary institution required.
– Previous experience in Processing function preferred.
– Must be able to comprehend, speak, read and write English fluently and be understood by others with whom they are in contact; must not have skin allergies.
– Requires manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks using fine motor skills; must be in good health without limitation affecting standing and walking; must be able to lift 18 kilograms (40 lbs) and push/pull carts weighing up to 114 kilograms (250 lbs) required.
– Must be capable of continuous productivity in stressful situations.
– Ability to perform independently, showing sound judgment, flexibility and initiative.
– Ability to work closely with others in a cooperative manner.
– Must be service oriented, reliable and pay attention to detail.
– Available to work 3 shifts, weekends and statutory holidays required.
– Basic computer skills are an asset.
