Job Summary:
This posting is for a Psychiatric aide position on Unit 3-5, a Forensic Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, based at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Addictions and Mental Health, Edmonton Zone. This 19 bed, Psychiatric Intensive Care program, is provided in a maximum security setting, serving a patient population of individuals acutely unwell who have been found Not Criminally Responsible and Unfit for trial, as well as those who have been referred from correctional facilities for treatment

Reporting to the Unit Manager and working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will perform activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of patients. This includes assisting in the provision of routine nursing care to meet patients` hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs; assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors; and maintaining effective communications.
Qualifications:
A Personal Support Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent is preferred. Post secondary education in Social Sciences, Psychology or Health Services is an asset. Current CPR (BCLS-HCP) certification is required. Experience in working with mental health patients in a hospital setting is preferred.
